WHAT IS KINGDOM CONNECTIONS?

It is the name for the development project whose objective is to expand our capacity for reaching more people with the Gospel through the ministries of North Langley Community Church by providing additional parking spaces and facility space.

There is a Development Team comprised of Gord Bloch; Bob Thiessen; Randall Janzen; Rudy Ekkert; Will Ruller, and (Arthur Buse – ex officio member) who are giving leadership and oversight to this project.

There are four phases to this project:

PHASE ONE:
The Acquisition of the adjoining 5 acre parcel of land (Completed Dec 08)

PHASE TWO:
The Expansion of Parking Capacity from 200 to 325 Spaces (In process)

PHASE THREE:
To Define Needs and Stages for Building Renovation & Expansion (In process)

PHASE FOUR:
To Embark on 1st Stage of Building Renovation & Expansion (In process)

A PROGRESS REPORT

PHASE ONE:

• In December 2008, we successfully completed the purchase of the five acre parcel of land (the Sinclair Property) immediately adjacent to the west boundary of the existing land owned by North Langley Community Church.

PHASE TWO:

• The forecast cost of the construction for the Parking Lot development is $500,000. As of December 22, 2009 $151,650 has been given towards this target.

• Work has progressed on a development proposal to be submitted to the Township of Langley to allow for the rezoning of the new property for the purpose of adding another 125 parking spaces for use by the church. This proposal has required the input of environmental consultants and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans because of the significant area of protected lands and fish-bearing streams on the property. Needless to say, these consultations and approvals process resulted in many delays.

• September 2009 - The design for the watercourse crossing on the existing church property has been developed and approved by all relevant parties and work on this structure commenced in September 2009. Work continues on this structure with completion anticipated in January 2010.

• December 2009 - The ISDC (Integrated Site Design Concept) has been completed and submitted to the Township of Langley in preparation for submission to Council as part of the Re-zoning Application. We anticipate Council approval and public hearings to take place in January/February 2010.

• Spring 2010 – Once rezoning is complete and permits are issued by the Township, construction on the parking lot will commence with completion anticipated in late Spring/early Summer.

PHASE THREE:

• While work on the Parking Lot and Stream Crossing has progressed, the Development Team continues to work with the Architects on designs and plans for expanding the available ministry space especially for the Children’s Ministry and Student Ministry Departments. Further information on these proposals will be presented as they become available.
