Our Vision

To develop, nurture, and multiply Christ-centred, disciple-making communities that deepen our connection to God, to his Word, to one another, and to the world – our neighbourhoods, our city, and the nations.

Life change happens best in the context of a small group!

A Life Group is different than a social club, a support group, or a classroom. It’s a small group where you can connect in a deeper way with people who are striving, like you, to love, learn from, and become like Jesus. Life Groups help you develop a life-transforming relationship with Jesus Christ, form meaningful friendships with one another, discover spiritual insights from the Bible, and apply them practically to everyday life.

Goals of Life Groups

Jesus gave his disciples an important assignment to pursue after his departure into heaven:

"I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:18-20, NLT).

Life Groups at NLCC are aiming to be disciples in community - learning from Jesus to embrace God's life for us. Our primary goal is to pursue spiritual maturity - to "grow up" in our relationship with God, with each other, and with the world around us. This aim is reflected through our Core Values:

On Our Knees

You were created to know and respond to God with all that you are. At Life Group, we learn together how to do that, by worshipping together, listening to Scripture, praying for one another, and keeping one another accountable to living under Jesus’ leadership.

Living the Gospel

The message of Christianity is not a self-help program. It is ultimately a message about what GOD has done, is doing, and will do through Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit, and the Christian life is primarily concerned with learning about how God's life-changing power does its work in and through our lives. We meet together to listen for, speak, and live out the Gospel of God's greatness, glory, goodness and grace in Jesus Christ.

With Shared Lives

By God’s design, we’re better together! Life Groups strive to be a “safe harbour” where you can learn to be authentic with others, experiencing the spiritual friendship, acceptance and confidential support of others for all of life’s lessons and challenges. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore your gifts as you serve one another in various ways.

Through Generous Love

Jesus’ followers are partners with Jesus in sharing God’s love with the world. In Life Group, you’ll be looking for unique ways that you can do that, whether that is through existing church ministries, or in various opportunities in the community. We hope that as you work together you’ll also discover your own personal ministry, and even be equipped to step out in faith as a leader!
