According to the most recent census data, a little over 67% of Canadians identify themselves as Christian. Yet other surveys indicate that at most 25% of Canadians regularly participate in Christian religious services. This would seem to indicate some confusion over what being a Christian really means.

What does it mean to fully trust God with everything? I mean, over the course of my life I have gained somewhat of a grasp on what it looks like, but I am continually realizing that trusting God with everything doesn't simply get easier over time. This year, and specifically these last few weeks, have been a reminder of this - trusting God is a practice that continually needs revisiting.

Worrying is such an easy thing to do but also such a worthless thing to do. Worrying accomplishes nothing, it's completely unproductive and is really only destructive.

    "Now listen, you rich people!"
(OK James... you have our attention.)
Tanya and I have been part of the same amazing life group for 7 years.  It's been a fantastic journey that has involved deep Biblical discussion, worship, prayer, food, and the simple sharing of life with one another.  On Monday night we gathered together to continue our study in the book of James.  And here is an excerpt from the passage we studied:

I have always been a little mistrustful of formulas, especially when it comes to our Christian faith.

However the other day in my devotions, I came across Philippians 4 and I thought to myself, "Hmmm...Cory, this seems like a pretty good formula for you when it comes to experiencing peace!"

A few years ago, I (Joel) went out for coffee with Pastor Matthew in order for us to get to know one another better. Little did I know, it was in that discussion that the topic of the Wellspring Foundation's work in Rwanda came about and God stirred a passion in my heart. I came home that evening and called Amy at work exclaiming, "That was the best $25 in babysitting I have ever spent."  Why?

I just finished watching 13 Reasons Why. It's a fictional TV series about Hannah Baker, a girl in high school, and the 13 reasons why she committed suicide. 13 Reasons Why (13RW) was released just over a month ago on Netflix and has sparked a lot of conversation and controversy.

If you're anything like me, your immediate answer is probably something along the lines of "Jesus came to die on the cross (and RISE!) to save us from our sins so we can go to heaven...". While there is truth there, I think Jesus' message and mission (the Gospel) is more than just that.

When someone tells me they don’t believe, I can’t help but think about why I do believe. Why am I convinced of my faith when so many seem to dismiss the assurance I have?

It seems in the last few months I’ve had more conversations than ever with friends and others who have decided that faith in God is not for them.

You know the feeling when a certain topic resurfaces in your life?

North Langley’s Yorkson Campus just celebrated its 6-month anniversary. Time flies! It has been a privilege and a joy to lead a team of incredible people who are high owners and who share a passion to make Jesus known, to a new and fast-growing area in Langley. I absolutely love the community that’s forming and what God is doing at Yorkson!
