-Be scheduled 1-2 times per month
-Attend rehearsals for the weeks you are scheduled (Wednesday evenings from 7-10pm)
Walnut Grove campus - 7:30am call time / 9am + 11am (2 services)
Yorkson campus - 7:20am call time / 10am (1 service)

- Instruments -

Acoustic Guitar:

  • A decent level of ability to play your instrument in a band setting
  • A versatile understanding of chords and voicings
  • A good sense of rhythm/timing
  • Ability to ‘lead’ a song musically (ie - confidence in appropriate strumming/picking as a lead instrument)
  • Appropriate, good quality gear
  • Great ‘stage presence’
  • Ability to play in a variety of genres
  • A humble, teachable attitude

Backup Vocals:

  • An advanced level of ability to sing well and on pitch
  • An advanced ability to pick up harmonies quickly (often this is needed intuitively)
  • Ability to match the lead vocals syllables, pronunciation, etc
  • A developed intuition in knowing when to sing and when not to sing
  • Great ‘stage presence’
  • Ability to sing in a variety of genres
  • A humble, teachable attitude

Bass Guitar:

  • A decent level of ability to play your instrument in a band setting
  • A versatile understanding of notes/frets
  • A developed intuition around appropriate ‘bass playing’ (ie - when to be ‘noodling’ higher up on the fret as opposed to when to play lower, more foundational notes)
  • An ability to play well with a drummer (eg - being able to ‘lock in’ well with a particular  drum pattern)
  • Appropriate, good quality gear
  • Great ‘stage presence’
  • Ability to play in a variety of genres
  • A humble, teachable attitude

Drums:

  • A decent level of ability to play your instrument in a band setting
  • A great sense of tempo/rhythm
  • Ability to play with Click Tracks (we will provide the Click Tracks)
  • Ability to ‘lead’ the band rhythmically and be the tempo-setter.
  • A developed intuition of ‘appropriate ensemble playing’ (ie - knowing when a fill will fit and when it won’t, etc)
  • Great ‘stage presence’
  • Ability to play well with a bass player
  • Ability to play in a variety of genres
  • A humble, teachable attitude

Electric Guitar:

  • A decent level of ability to play your instrument in a band setting
  • A versatile understanding of chords and voicings
  • A good sense of rhythm/timing
  • Ability to fill in colouring - not just rhythm
  • Ability to compliment the rhythm/acoustic guitarist as opposed to imitating
  • A good and growing ear for tone, effects, etc
  • Appropriate, good quality gear/setup
  • Ability, if called for, to do ‘lead solos’ - not mandatory, but helpful.
  • Great stage presence
  • A humble, teachable attitude
  • Ability to play appropriately in a variety of genres

Keys/Violin/Accordion/Brass/Woodwinds:

  • An advanced level of ability to play your instrument in a band setting
  • A versatile understanding of counterpoint and harmony
  • A good sense of rhythm/timing
  • Ability to play melody and harmony lines
  • Ability to play fills
  • Both reading music and playing by ear are an asset
  • Appropriate, good quality gear
  • Great ‘stage presence’
  • A humble, teachable attitude
  • Ability to play in a variety of genres
