Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.” (John 20:21). Reproduction is a key end goal of Jesus’ call to apprenticeship: “Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of people” (Matthew 4:19). Maturity means becoming more like Jesus, and Jesus was a disciple-maker! As Pastor Jim Putman writes, “When someone tells me they are spiritually mature, I ask them who they are discipling” (Discipleshift, 2013, p 69).
That’s why our aim is not just to take care of our own apprenticeship, but to mature into disciples who make disciples. As you share the ordinary moments of life with others, you also share the ups and downs, the lessons and experiences of your own apprenticeship to Jesus.
There are lots of ways to invest in Jesus-centred relationships with others!
