My name is Rob Rhea, and I have been a member of North Langley church for over 25 years. I am married to Sue, and we have two adult married children and two granddaughters. I work at Trinity Western University as the Vice President for Student Life and have worked at Trinity for 29 years. I have served on the Elder Board at NLCC for 12 years.
I grew up in a Christian home and came to faith when I was 11 years old at a revival. I have grown in my faith most significantly as a university student and through my career within the university context. Church involvement has always been a central part of my faith journey. I’ve learned to trust God and to see the ways that he can take the gifts that I bring to join the work of his kingdom through my commitment to my local church. I’ve also had times of spiritual silence where I’ve learned to trust in God in ways that were challenging and not easy. My family, of course, has been a source of growth and where he has revealed himself to me in very tangible ways.
In addition to serving as an elder, my wife and I lead the marriage course and do a significant amount of premarital counselling. I’m on the prayer team and the chair setup team as well. Being connected to ministry at North Langley is one of the most important parts of my life!
I feel like being an elder is a great way for me to use the gifts that I have been entrusted with. It’s a great way for me to serve the church and to be a part of something bigger than me. I love working alongside the staff and seeing the mission of our church and the work of the kingdom extended through our collaborative efforts.
