I love helping people grasp the full impact of the good news of Jesus Christ for their lives. I listen, learn, envision, strategize, study, and empower others for making disciples of Jesus at NLCC. Specifically, I have the honour of shepherding our many Life Groups, some of our classes and courses, our men’s ministry, our seniors’ ministry, and NLCC’s internship program. I also work with the rest of the team to cultivate a culture of disciple-making at NLCC.
God called me to pastoral ministry at NLCC in 2011, after 14 years in campus ministry at Trinity Western University. I’m married to Cyndi, who is an amazing teacher and leader in her own sphere. Together we’re raising five amazing teen/young adults and one small dog, cultivating a small home garden, and keeping the grass cut!
I love to read, and especially love spiritual authors such as Dallas Willard, Richard Foster, Jeff Vanderstelt, Ruth Haley Barton, Ronald Rolheiser, and N.T. Wright. Whenever I can I’m listening to thought-provoking podcasts – sermons, lectures, documentaries, etc. On a more entertaining level, I enjoy the fantasy adventures of C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Stephen Lawhead. My idea of a good time is a live concert (small or large) or live theatre with my wife, a quiet walk in nature’s beauty, or coffee and spiritual conversation with a friend.
